This is a review for the first four books in the series. I have loved all of the stories and the characters and would have given them a greater number of stars if it weren't for the many and frequent grammatical errors. It is annoying and distracting since there may be several on one page. Do writers not have a proof reader anymore? Here are just two examples: "Anyways.....". The word "Anyway" is not plural. Ever. "He didn't know where he left his jacket at". The word "at" is a preposition. You should never end a sentence with one. There are regular misuses of words such as was/were, saw/seen. And at least once "your" was used instead of "you're". As others have said before me, "itch" is a feeling on the skin, "scratch" is what you do to relieve it....you don't itch it..The characters are well developed and interesting. The plots exciting and paced just fast enough to hold a reader's interest. I will continue to complete the series but I highly recommend that Mr. Carson pay more attention to proof reading. It is difficult to take an author seriously when the errors are ones that would be covered in English 101. This series is growing on me. Yes, as reviews say, there are grammatical errors but not a big deal to me. The plot was a bit over the top but the characters are being fleshed out and the reader gets to know them and care about them. I like that. Of course I look to compare to C.J. Box and William Kent Krueger, the uber pros at this genre.....but I look forward to each book. I do not want a book with foul language and gratuitous violence as way too many books have now. These books do not and that is a sure winner for me. I want mystery, escapism and characters I get to know and hopefully like...or like to not like. :-). This series fits the bill. Keep them coming and my bet is that they will improve with each book. Very glad I found this series!
