Kenna Burke is a romance author. Her latest book was rejected, her rent just went up and her last date was a bust. She needs a vacation, but has no money to spare. Her brother Steve has a solution. His best friend, Landon Strauss, needs a house sitter.Kenna and Landon have a past. He was a senior when she was a freshman, he kept his eye on his best friends little sister. Kenna developed a big crush on him. As she grew up Landon took notice. When she was 18, every thing changed. Landon's father was killed, and he turned enraged and bitter. Kenna tried her best to help him and did something that violated his privacy and destroyed their relationship. What she learned terrified her, but she has kept his secrets.Landon can't believe Steve would send Kenna to house sit. Steve has always been a peacemaker. He doesn't know the cause of the rift in their relationship. Loved Kenna and Landon's story and can't wait for Skyler's. I liked the idea behind this story, but it felt rushed (ironic since the main character is an author who's latest book was just declined by her publisher due to it being rushed.) The timeline of the past was a jumble that didn't make much sense if you actually paid attention to it. One example is the 2 main characters first encounter was supposedly in high school (her freshman year and his senior) but later in the book it states that they grew up across the street from each other their entire lives and she spent a lot of time at his house due to her parents traveling.... BUT he barely recognized her as his best friend's sister in high school.The characters felt forced and the situations felt forced. I don't want to give away any main spoilers, but it just seemed like the characters would suddenly change their minds to fit certain story lines, then change back. It could have been a 5 star book based off the general idea of the story, but it failed. It was a decent bool and I am not mad that I bought it, just disappointed that it wasn't more consistent and though out.
